Modifying a Netboot/NetRestore Implementation (adding an image)

Step 1:
Copy your new image to the images share point on the server.
(For instructions on making a new image click here.)

Step 2:
Verify that you know where the netboot image is stored. It will be in /Volumes/<specificdrive>/Library/Netboot/NetBootSP0/

Note:

Look in the
Neboot settings
of Server Admin
if you don't
know on which
drive your netboot
image resides.

Step 3:
Mount your netboot image by doubleclicking on the dmg file.

Step 4:
Launch the NetRestore Application from within your netboot image

Step 5:

Open the Configurations window for Netrestore.

Step 6:

Create a new configuration.
-Give a config name.
-Use AFP protocol.
-Set the sharepoint to "Images"
-Set your username and password just as it was for the original configuration.
-For the relative path, just put in the full name of your new image.
-Give a description if you would like.
-Save the configuration.
-Close the Configuration Manager window.

You could now quit NetRestore and eject the NetInstall Image. If you would like to modify the preferences, continue with step 7.

Step 7 (optional):

Modify the Preferences.
-Go back to the NetRestore menu and select "Preferences".
- In the Preferences menu you can change your default configuration to the new configuration if you would like.
-You can also enable "full automation." However, be careful with this, because anyone on your network could potentially overwrite their machine by holding down the "N" key.
-I would not recommend making changes to the buffers.
-Once you've made the desired changes, click "Save", quit NetRestore, and eject the netboot volume.

You're new configuration is ready for use.
